What to Expect

History Taking

We begin with a friendly conversation discussing your current symptoms, lifestyle, medical history and overall health.

This might feel in-depth, but it allows us to:

Identify the root cause of your problem
Understand contributing factors (e.g. work, stress, posture, previous injuries, sports, hobbies)
Screen for any conditions that may require referral or further investigation.

Physical Examination

We will then carry out a physical assessment which may include assessment of:

Posture
Areas of tension, restriction, weakness or imbalance
Movement and range of motion testing
Muscle and joints
Orthopaedic and neurological checks

This helps us to build a complete clinical picture and confirm whether chiropractic care is appropriate for you.

Report of Findings

After your assessment, we will discuss your Report of Findings outlining:

Our findings
Whether chiropractic treatment is suitable
Treatment options
Your personalised plan of action and how treatment can benefit you

If chiropractic care is not the right approach, we will advise you and where necessary and refer you to another healthcare professional.

Treatment

We always aim to provide some treatment on your first visit.

You may have heard people say "I went to the chiropractor and they just asked questions and didn't treat me"

This is actually a sign of good, responsible care.

As a regulated healthcare profession, chiropractors are required to prioritise patient safety above all else. Taking a full history and performing appropriate examinations ensures that:

Treatment is safe and suitable
Serious conditions are ruled out
You recieve the right care at the right time

In some cases treatment may be given at the first visit if time allows. In others, it is safer and more appropriate to wait until all the necessary information has been gathered.

Chiropractors in the UK are regulated by the General Chiropractic Council (GCC), the statutory regulatory body for the profession. This means we follow strict professional standards, including the GCC Code of Practice (2024).
